Government employee Jaspal wants to marry school teacher Harman, but Harman's father is not happy with the relationship. He wants his daughter to get married to a Patwari, hence Harman requests Jaspal to become a Patwari by any means necessary. Exasperated Jaspal explains that it's next to impossible, because he is at a much senior position of Kanugo, leaving both confused by the father's demands. All goes well but suddenly one day Jaspal is blamed for having relationship with other another girl. A jilted Harman decides to get married to a man of her father's choice, leaving Jaspal with two challenges - first to downgrade his designation from Kanugo to Patwari to fulfil the father's condition, and second to prove his innocence to Harman.
