Abhindran is extremely close to his elder brother Mahendran. Due to a problem in his hometown, he's forced to flee to a remote island with only a ferry (jangar) service. His life takes an unexpected turn when Nakshatra, a young woman, arrives on the island, and he finds himself compelled to marry her.
